Nubanusit Lake is located on the border between Cheshire and Hillsborough counties, in the towns of Nelson and Hancock. It has a surface area of 718 acres and a maximum depth of 97 feet. The lake is fed by Nubanusit Brook, which flows into the Contoocook River and eventually into the Merrimack River. The lake has two islands and a rocky shoreline with giant slabs of granite. There is a launching area for kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats on Boutwell Road, but parking is limited.
