Eastman Cove is a wetland area located along the Merrimack River in Concord, It is adjacent to the Merrimack River Outdoor Education and Conservation Area, which is owned and managed by the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. Eastman Cove is an oxbow marsh, a former meander of the river that has been cut off as the river changed course over time. It provides habitats for beavers, turtles, and migratory birds. The floodplain forest around Eastman Cove is dominated by silver maple trees, which can tolerate frequent flooding and erosion. The forest also contains white pine, shagbark hickory, white ash, and basswood.

The Merrimack River is a 117-mile-long river in the northeastern United States. It rises at the confluence of the Pemigewasset and Winnipesaukee rivers in Franklin, New Hampshire, flows southward into Massachusetts, and then flows northeast until it empties into the Atlantic Ocean at Newburyport. From the point where the Merrimack turns northeast in Lowell, Massachusetts onward, the Massachusetts–New Hampshire border is roughly calculated as the line three miles north of the river.
