About this Location

Trails on the Langenau Forest are part of a larger network of trails in the area, including those maintained by the Wilmot and New London Conservation Commissions, and the Sunapee Ragged Kearsarge Greenway. It is possible to make a nice 2-mile loop hike from the trailhead at Langenau Forest, utilizing the Langenau Forest Trail and the Pleasant Lake High Trail.

From the junction of NY-4A and NH-11 in Andover, travel on NH-4A West for 3.5 miles then turn left onto Granite Hill Road. Granite Hill Road is very steep in sections and will present difficulties in snowy or icy conditions. Drive 1.1 miles on and then turn right onto Messer Road. Parking for Langenau Forest is located less than 0.5 miles at the end of Messer Road. In summer, a designated parking area suitable for 5-10 vehicles is located just before the gate and property sign. In winter, the last stretch of Messer Road is not plowed past the last driveway, about 500 feet before the summer parking area. Access to the property is not guaranteed in winter as there is no plowed lot.
