About this Location

Foss Beach, or Rye North Beach, is a moderately sized beach (3,750 feet) located along NH-1A in Rye just north of Rye Harbor. With great views of Rye Harbor and The Isles of Shoals, Foss Beach is a great stop along the scenic coast of Rye.

Foss Beach has numerous access points from the street where parking is available along NH-1A. The beach is a mixture of sand and rocks, making it comfortable for casual beachgoers, surfers, and anglers. During high tide, the beach does become limited, and moving to a different area on the beach may be necessary. Limited street parking (no permit needed) limits crowding. There are no lifeguards on duty or public facilities, making it challenging to bring children; however, there is a public picnic area and restroom at Rye Harbor State Park, which is within walking distance. All Rye Beaches are smoke-free.
