Official WebsiteGallop Marsh is located adjacent to Unity Springs Road. Park at a pull-off on the side of the road.
Gallop Marsh is a beaver impoundment. Beaver activity in any given location ebbs and flows as their food supply is exhausted and then regenerated. Thus, the marsh may at times be inundated or mostly dry with grasses and forbes populating the mudflats. When beaver have been absent and then return, this flooded vegetation provides food and habitat for waterfowl and other wetland wildlife. The upland is currently not conserved.
Wetland wildlife includes beaver, muskrat, mink and waterfowl such as mallard ducks, black ducks, and Canada geese.
