Four Bar Cottages consists of 80 secluded acres of private property, with the area around the cottages and main house situated under a large grove of cottonwood, mulberry, pine, maple, and other trees, as well as various kinds of bushes and shrubbery, offering one of the largest groves in the valley. This combination of vegetation is responsible for the large number of birds that are drawn to the property, to the delight of birders. Other wildlife frequently observed on the grounds are javelina, coyotes, jackrabbits, bobcats, mule deer, box turtles, gray fox, and even black bear.
