A path through the woods leads to a boardwalk with lovely views over Jackson Pond to Yokun Ridge. Birds galore in the intervening woods and wetlands.
This land, and all of the present-day Berkshires, are the ancestral homeland of the Mohican people, who were forcefully displaced to Wisconsin by European colonization. These lands continue to be of great significance to the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Nation today.
Park at the Stockbridge boat launch on the Stockbridge Bowl, as there is no designated parking area for the boardwalk. From there take a left on MA-183 North and walk 400 feet before taking a right onto Old Colonial Road. Walk .25 mile and enter the trail at BNRC’s property sign.
