About Wyman Woods Conservation Area
The first rail line to serve Marblehead opened in 1839, replacing a stagecoach route to Salem. Today, that rail bed is a utility corridor also serving pedestrians and bicyclers passing through Wyman Woods and Lead Mills conservation areas.

At 43 acres and with three-fourths of a mile of trails, Wyman Woods offers the hiker a good deal of up and down walking. The hills are not particularly steep, but frequent.

Another small area, today referred to as Harbor Glade, gives walkers access to the shoreline of Salem Harbor when the tide is out and a pleasant open space for simply enjoying the view. The adjacent 4.5 – acre Lead Mills conservation area provides connecting trails to those in Wyman Woods and to the rail bed along the shoreline.
