About this Location

Mill Pond was created by Edward Converse, the first settler of the area, who built a dam and a grist mill on the Aberjona River in the 17th century. The mill pond was later used by other industries until the early 20th century. Today, Mill Pond is part of the town center, surrounded by public buildings, shops, and parks. It is also a habitat for river herring, which use a fish ladder to migrate upstream to spawn.

The Mill Pond recreation ground is owned by the Town of Winchester. It is 1.4 acres.
