The cemetery covers 65 acres and contains over 100,000 graves, including many notable figures from Boston's history, such as John F. Fitzgerald, the grandfather of President John F. Kennedy, and Patrick Collins, the second Irish-born mayor of Boston. The cemetery is also known for its beautiful landscaping and monuments, such as the Celtic cross that marks the entrance and the chapel that was built in 1892.
