Douglas State Forest borders both Connecticut and Rhode Island. It covers 5,525 acres of land, including Wallum Lake, which offers swimming, boating, and fishing opportunities. The forest features a rare Atlantic white cedar swamp, part of which is designated as a Massachusetts Wildland. Visitors can enjoy hiking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling on miles of woodland trails. The forest is open year-round from sunrise to sunset.
