At the turn of the 20th century, Harry W. Pierce assembled a grand estate featuring a 29-room stucco mansion, stable, horse paddocks, a pond, and an extensive system of bridle paths. Today, this estate is the Doyle Community Park. With Pierce Park and the Doyle Center at its heart, it offers a 157-acre oasis amidst the bustling urban centers of Leominster and Fitchburg.
Pierce Park is made up of 10 of the original landscaped grounds from the estate—most of the trees and shrubs are from the estate’s original design and plantings. The Doyle Center, a LEED Gold-certified green building, is home to a portion of Trustees administrative offices.
More than three miles of trails meander through Doyle Community Park—including one and a half miles of accessible trails—bringing you past woodlands, open fields, meadows, formal gardens, and parklands. For a dose of picnicking and play, pause at Pierce Meadow, a 10-acre gem with huge specimen trees and open space.
