About Lake Wampanoag Wildlife Sanctuary
Since Lake Wampanoag is one of Mass Audubon’s less-visited wildlife sanctuaries, it’s easy to be alone in this beautiful setting. That is, of course, if you don’t count the fascinating wildlife that inhabit this sanctuary like moose, bears, deer, bobcats, and coyotes.

The ecologically managed grasslands are mowed late in the season to support the breeding Bobolinks and Savannah Sparrows that nest here during the summer.

Explore 1 mile of trails at Lake Wampanoag Wildlife Sanctuary. Along the way, you will walk through a spruce/pine forest, pass through a meadow where tree swallows may be nesting, and stop by a small pond. Look for dragonflies and butterflies along the Meadow Trail in summer and fall.
