About this Location

Meetinghouse Pond was created in 1737 as a mill pond for the town's first sawmill and gristmill. The pond is fed by Phillips Brook and drains into the Whitman River.

Meeting House Pond is located up a complex of bays and side waters that eventually lead into the Atlantic Ocean at Chatham Harbor at the south end of Cape Cod. From Chatham Harbor, Meeting House Pond is an eight-mile journey up Chatham Harbor, Pleasant Bay, and Little Pleasant Bay.
