About Uxbridge Rice City Pond
The Rice City Pond is in the Blackstone Valley Heritage Corridor. The construction of the dam resulted in the creation of Rice City Pond. The dam was built in 1865 creating a large holding pond in the Blackstone River and flooded the canal upstream for nearly 100 years. The canal and towpath were visible however the water level has risen to cover them in this section.

From MA-122 in Uxbridge go east on Hartford Avenue for 1.1 miles. Look for Charles Ballou Memorial Recreation Area on the right, just before the river. Park in the gravel parking area along the road or pull into the parking lot for UMass Memorial and pull around to the part of the parking lot closest to the river, where there are park signs and an entrance to the park. If both of these parking areas are full there is also a large field across the street that can be used for parking.
