About this Location

Proctor Wildlife Sanctuary is a 47-acre second-generation forest with lots of trails and two streams! New Hampshire’s Audubon Society maintains this trail.

What the tiny Proctor Wildlife Sanctuary lacks in size, it makes up for in the size of many of the White Pines that dominate the entrance to its beautiful trails. These trees are a gateway to surrounding mixed and northern hardwood forests, home to numerous birds and mammals.

From the lights at the junction of NH-25 and NH-25B in the middle of Centre Harbor, go north on NH-25B for 1.1 miles. Take a right onto Centre Harbor Neck Road and travel for 1 mile. Look for the ASNH trailhead sign on the left; park in “pull off” across from the sign.

Notable Trails

The yellow-blazed Brookside Trail follows a water feature that bears its name and provides for a nice soundscape on an otherwise quiet (until the spring birds arrive) walk. For a longer walk, connect to trails owned and managed by the Lakes Region Conservation Trust across the street.
