Belmont, New Hampshire 03220
Official WebsiteThe Village Spur Rail Trail begins in downtown Belmont and stretches from behind the Belmont Mill to the Tioga River on the west side of South Road. Out and back for the entire trail is about four miles. On your way, you'll encounter two covered bridges: the first is located at the Slippery Rock crossing on the Tioga River. The second is found west of Great Brook Village. Approaching South Road, the trail passes through a pasture, so riders should keep to the path and have their pets leashed to avoid disturbing the cattle.
The Belmont Village Spur provided service to Belmont Village for four decades before being shuttered in 1929. The trail that sits atop this corridor is a reminder of the region's past, and there are plans to connect to another historic rail trail, the Winnipesaukee River Trail, which runs between Franklin and Tilton.
Ample parking (including accessible parking) is available at the Belmont Mill (14 Mill Street, Belmont) and Tioga Pavilion (18 Mill Street, Belmont) adjacent to the Mill. There is no parking on the west side of the trail.
