Located just 25 minutes north of North Conway on scenic NH-16, the Mount Washington Auto Road’s unique location in Pinkham Notch provides spectacular views up to the Great Gulf Wilderness and the Presidential Mountain Range.

There is a fee for driving the Auto Road which is open 9 am to 4 pm. Check the website for times and prices.

Mount Washington in New Hampshire is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States. It has an elevation of 6,288 feet and is part of the Presidential Range of the White Mountains. Mount Washington is known for its extreme weather and holds the record for the highest wind speed ever recorded on Earth, 231 miles per hour, in 1934. The mountain attracts many visitors who can reach the summit by hiking, driving, or riding a cog railway. Mount Washington also has a museum, an observatory, and a library that offers educational programs and resources about the mountain and its climate.
