A nighthawk watch is held on the roof of the Capitol Commons Parking Garage on Storrs Street every evening (except in bad weather) from mid-August into the first week of September. Numbers of migrating nighthawks are tallied from 5:30 pm to about 7:30 pm. Visitors are welcome.

The Capital Commons parking garage is located between South Main and Storrs streets on the lot known as the Sears block. There are 510 parking spaces as well as an elevator and multiple stairwells for easy access to different levels.

The entrance to the garage is on Storrs Street. There is access to Main Street on foot from Level 3 via the elevator or the stair tower.
