In the fall this is a prime hawk-watching site, with raptors of all kinds soaring past. The summit is home to Eastern Towhees, Eastern Phoebes, and other passerines. The woods host warblers, nuthatches, Hermit Thrushes, chickadees, woodpeckers, and many other birds.

A moderate 20 to 30-minute walk through the woods rewards the visitor with nearly 360° views of Mount Washington to the north and the Atlantic Ocean off to the southeast.

From Portsmouth, take the Spaulding Turnpike (NH-16) north to Exit 13 in Rochester. Exit onto US-202 West. At the first blinking light, turn right onto Estes Road. At the end of Estes Road, go left (west) onto NH-202A. In one mile, NH-202A bears sharply left and another road goes straight ahead. Take this road (Crown Point Road) straight ahead for about 4.5 miles. It has several uphill sections. After reaching the highest point continue for a tenth of a mile or so. Park in the lot on the right opposite a red house.

From NH-101 Exit 7 in Epping, take NH-125 North past NH-9 in Barrington. Take the 2nd left onto Green Hill Road. After you cross US-202, the road will become First Crown Point Road. From here, there are two ways to go: 1) At the “Y,” continue left on Second Crown Point Road. Several miles after you cross NH-202A, turn right on Cross Road. At the intersection with First Crown Point Road, turn left. 2) At the “Y,” take the right-hand fork on Pond Hill Road. Cross NH-202A, where this becomes First Crown Point Road. At the stop sign in Strafford Center, go left on First Crown Point Road. Continue up out of the valley to Blue Job (2-3 miles).

From Concord, take US-4 east to Northwood and turn left onto US-202. Continue through Barrington, and after the Barrington/Rochester town line, turn left onto Estes Road, just beyond Dry Hill Road. Proceed along Estes Road as in the first paragraph.
