Coldrain Pond is an 18-acre pond with a shoreline made up predominantly of floating bog that transforms into a red maple swamp. The surrounding upland is oak-pine forest.

Ten acres of marsh on the property provide excellent habitat for beaver, mink, and waterfowl. The upland supports deer, grouse, and snowshoe hare. Coldrain Pond is a designated remote trout pond, annually stocked with brook trout raised in New Hampshire hatcheries. You may even have a chance to spot a common loon.

The parking area for Coldrain Pond is located on Brackett Hill Road. From NH-11 in New Durham, take Depot Road north into the center of town. Go through the intersection onto Birch Hill Road and take the second left onto Brackett Hill Road. The parking area is approximately 0.8 miles on the right. Access to the pond is by foot only (about 0.3 miles).
