Lake Gunnison, also known as "The Goshen Ocean", 60 acres, was created in 1983 by building a dam to protect the watershed and prevent flooding. The lake is named after John Williams Gunnison, an American explorer who was born in Goshen in 1812. The lake is a popular destination for hiking, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, picnicking and bird-watching.
For a pleasant walk, take the Ruth LeClair Memorial Trail, a three-mile loop around the lake.
