Colt State Park is one of the most reliable spots in Rhode Island to find overwintering Barrow's Goldeneye. Typically, a pair overwinters at the park annually.

About this Location

Colt State Park is open year-round. The park consists of 464 acres of lawns, coastline, salt marshes, and forests. The park provides great views of the Narragansett Bay. The park is accessible by car and bike (with a connection to the East Bay Bike Path), the nearest connection to RIPTA bus service is approximately 1 mile away on RI-114. Most of the paths going throughout the park are paved and wheelchair accessible. There are restrooms at a small building in the southern portion of the park (during the off season outhouses are available instead).
