For sea watching at Beavertail State Park, a spotting scope is especially helpful to see more distant birds. Many of the paths throughout the peninsula have dense shrubby habitat which is very productive for passerines, especially near sunrise during migration.

In the winter months, this hotspot is one of the most reliable places in Rhode Island to find Harlequin Ducks and Purple Sandpipers.
