From US-7 drive west on Little Chicago Road for 0.9 miles, turn right on Hawkins Road, and drive 1.5 miles to Hawkins Slang on the right. Access here is limited, but pull carefully off the road and respect private property.
Typical marsh species, Pied-bill Grebe, American Bittern, Virginia Rail, Sora, and Marsh Wren. Wood Duck and Blue-winged Teal nest here, as do Osprey. Look for Bobolinks in hayfields in the area. Bald Eagles nest in this area.
There are views of Hawkins Slang and Otter Creek from Hawkins Road.
