Thompson's Point is a historic summer colony located on the shores of Lake Champlain in Charlotte. The colony was established in the late 19th century by a group of families from New York and Boston who sought a retreat from the heat and pollution of the city. The colony consists of about 70 cottages, most of which are still owned by the original families or their descendants. The cottages are built in a variety of styles, ranging from rustic to Victorian, and are surrounded by gardens and woodlands. The colony has a communal clubhouse, tennis courts, a golf course, and a dock for boating and fishing.
