Reservoir Pond, also known as Lake Pauline, is a small artificial lake in Ludlow. It covers 32 acres and has a maximum depth of 47 feet. It was created in 1920 by damming the Black River for hydro-power. The lake is now used for recreation, especially by non-motorized boats such as kayaks and canoes. Reservoir Pond is separated from Lake Rescue, a larger and deeper lake, by the Red Bridge dam. The Red Bridge is a historic covered bridge built in 1835 that offers scenic views of both lakes.
Reservoir Pond is south of Lake Rescue. VT-100 is on the west side of Reservoir Pond.
Reservoir Pond (32 acres) is a site for the Vermont LoonWatch annual survey. Birders are encouraged to volunteer as often and whenever they are able. See Join LoonWatch for details.
